Set includes: 8" omelette, 10" omelette, and 12" omelette, 3qt chefs casserole with cover, 7qt chefs casserole with cover, and 2.5qt shallow saucepan with cover. Heavy-gauge aluminum is responsive to temperature changes. These pans feature the original Calphalon hard anodized surface, which is stick resistant, meaning that it sticks when you want it (when your searing, browning) and releases when you need it to(when your food is ready). If you know how cast iron cooks, you know how the hard anodized cooks, but hard anodized has many beneifts that make it better choice- aluminum is a better conductor than iron, you never season your pan(so you dont have flavor transfer from dish to dish), and it doesn't rust! All pans are spun or drawn into shape, which makes the entire pan (sides as well as bottom) the same thickness, which guarantees even heating throughout. If you enjoy cooking and want the best and most versatile surface for performing a variety of techniques- this is the surface for you! Metal utensil and broiler safe. Lifetime Warranty.

 "Beware, not all Calphalon Hard-Anodized Cookware is the same!!!" 2010-01-30
By Michael Infranco (Commack, NY, US)
My wife loved her new Calphalon pans that she bought, so when I saw this deal on Amazon, I pounced on it, thinking it was a great value. When the pans arrived, they looked the same, but after a couple of weeks of use, we noticed that there was something different. For one, the new pan felt lighter in our hands than the original my wife bought. Second, After a few washings, the anodized surface looked different between the two pans. It was only after helping my wife wash and dry after dinner one night that I noticed the reason we felt the way we did. The original pan my wife bought in a retail store was made in the USA (Ohio), while the pan that didnt seem "quite right" was made in China. I dont remember the ad mentioning this and I felt misled. If you are a Calphalon fan, make sure you know the country of manufacture before you buy!!!!!

These are great pans. They cook evenly, but require some elbow grease to clean.

The only thing I don't like about them is the skinny handles. They are not comfortable in my hands.

 "Doesn't seem like the same Company" 2010-01-28

My wife ordered these through the deal of the day on Monday and we received them the Tuesday.

For our wedding 5 years ago we received a set of Calphalon pots and pans and were made believers.

They take a slightly different set of skills to cook with as food just seemed to cook differently (hard to describe aside from the lower heat, longer time others have mentioned). Anyways the pans over time have gotten pretty banged up and we looked at this set as a replacement. We buy probably 75-85% of our home goods, electronics, etc. etc through Amazon and are customer review nuts. Before making the purchase I read the comments about:

* Sets coming dinged up

* Pans not being a uniform color

* Made in China (not a big deal to me)

* Thinner handles

* Cheaper representation of the Calphalon pans made in Ohio

Some of the reviews seemed hit or miss (love them or hate them) and I couldn't find a commonality, until now. I think there are 2 categories of folks that won't like these.

1. If you are a believer of Calphalon One pans because you have owned them before and they happen to have been made in Ohio, you won't like these because your expectations are not met. It seems like an entirely different product which also devalues your perception of the "deal" you may have gotten (you are comparing the value to what you owned previously, not what you receive).

2. Some others who don't like these (without previous Calphalon experience) will experience a different way of cooking (use same methods and get different results) and assume it is a product defect.

I can't speak universally, but my impression of those reviews where folks like the pans, it may be a case of not having a true Calphalon experience before. The adage that once you drive a Cadillac, it's hard to go back to a Yugo (especially if you thought you got a good buy on the Cadillac and they gave you the Yugo instead).

Anyways here's my experience (short but telling). I used the 10 inch fry pan last night to cook some shrimp. It was simply Olive Oil, thawed out shrimp, and garlic in the pan, medium heat, cooked for about 5-7 minutes. Everything cooked fine, tasted good, and scrubbing the pan got out the residue from the bottom,

So far, so good right???

Not really. While the residue came off there are now odd stains all over the pan that almost look like brown water spots. The pan surface is clean but no matter how long I scrubbed with my 3M Scotch-brite Soft Scour Scrub Sponge (probably one of the most commonly used sponges), the marks remain.

One use and permanent discoloration doesn't bode well for the quality. I think if we were to keep these longer we would only regret the purchase more and more. We intended to replace the current Calphalon Pots and pans hanging on the rack with these but now we will be packing them up and sending them back and chalking it up to poor craftsmanship. If we can't find a good deal on the real "Calphalon" then I guess we'll be switching brands.
